BEAF Commission Opportunity
Deadline for Expression Of Interest (EOI) Submissions for the Commissions: 5pm Monday 13 November 2017 BEAF Commission Programme will provide commission opportunities for all individual creatives, collaborative partners and groups to create new, temporary events, performances, exhibitions and community programmes.
All we require is a short Expression of Interest. This should be a brief proposal and budget – it’s the idea and the concept behind it that we are most interested in for the EOI. A selection process will take place, and shortlisted proposals will be invited to provide further detail before final selection. The Commissions will be announced at the end of November 2017. Remember if you are not successful with your funding bid you can still be part of the festival by submitting an event through the open submissions.
Commissions are offered at two levels: up to £1,500 and up to £750. This includes all fees and production costs. Smaller amounts can be applied for, dependent on scale and type of event. Technical, and production advice will be provided and everyone can take part in the mentoring and support programme.
A Graduate award is also offered up to £300 for final year students who intend to remain in Bournemouth or the wider county. Undergraduates cannot apply for the larger commissions. However all students can submit proposals to the open call and take part in the Festival.
Expression of Interest
To be considered for the Commissions, please submit an Expression of Interest
This should include:
A brief description of your proposal (no more than 300 words)
Proposed venue or location
Proposed duration of your project/event and dates
Outline budget proposal
CV of relevant experience
Online links to examples of relevant work
The overall size of your EOI should not exceed 10MB
Deadline for Expression of Interest 5pm on Monday 13 November 2017
Proposals must be sent online only to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Who Can Apply?
All creatives working in any medium, either individually or as part of a group who are currently based in, or originally from Bournemouth/Dorset, or who remain connected to county through work, family or professional associations.
Where will the Commission be located?
Proposals should be located in Bournemouth or be easy to access by walking or a bus route. Venues have been identified by BEAF but your proposal should include a location, which you have secured or approached. Proposals can be site specific, use internal or external locations, but all venues must take access into consideration.
What are the dates?
All events must take place within the Festival period, Saturday 28 April – Monday 7 May 2018.
Mentoring and Support Programme
We are working with our partners at Arts University Bournemouth and the Arts Development Company to provide a programme of mentoring and support. Each commissioned project will be supported with a mentor and will be offered access to free training sessions, crits and networking events.
Themes for BEAF 2018
There is no specific theme for the Festival. However we are interested in projects which:
− address social, environmental or political change;
− present work in new and experimental ways;
− provide community engagement, which might include workshops, talks or participatory activity;
− provide good access to everyone;
Good Luck with your application.
