BIRSt Sound Gallery

BIRSt teamed up with BEAF to present a sound gallery. It featured curated radio and audio pieces from the last 15 years of the station plus unique sound collated through social media and site specific interviews and recordings from BIRSt.co.uk.

BIRSt is an internet radio station managed by Bournemouth University Students. They push the boundaries of what they consider to radio broadcast. BIRSt 2015 presents a new generation of radio producers, their aim being to produce creative, innovative and interactive audio wherever you’d wish to listen, direct to your home, on demand.
If you missed the event at The Band Stand, the sound gallery will be re-broadcasting the audio pieces on BRISt.co.uk between 22nd and 23rd October.

The piece below, which was part of the installation is entitled ‘A Sense of Place in Bournemouth’ by Kieren Thomson, and takes readings from Cumberland Clark’s Bournemouth Song Book (1929), mixed in with thoughts of local people about the place we live.
